Practice Videos for Music Monday

To prepare for our Music Monday celebrations on May 1st, each grade group will be performing a song for their peers at an assembly (9:30 - 10:00).

Kindergartens will be singing "Mr. Clickety Cane", which is about a crazy man who gets all mixed up and silly when he's getting ready in the morning.  He washes his face with orange juice, and brushes his hair with a toothbrush!  And you don't even want to know what happens to the pizza at the end of the day . . .

Grade One students will be singing an adaptation of Feist's "1, 2, 3, 4", celebrating the number four with monsters, penguins and of course chickens in bathing suits.  Watch the video to the right to practice singing along!

Grade Two students will be sing an adaptation of Will.I.Am's song, "What I Am", a powerful affirmation of our many gifts and strengths.  Watch the video to the left to practice singing along to this piece!

Grade Three students will be performing a traditional African song (adapted and translated to English) called "Take Time in Life."  This song is a reminder to slow down, and appreciate the wonderful world around us and enjoy the special people in our lives.  So far, we have been exploring this piece with drums, xylophones and of course, movement!  It will be interesting to see how the final form evolves!

To wrap up the festivities, we will all sing "Siyahamba" together at the end of the assembly, marching  together as a community in peace, hope and love - three miracles that always happen when we make music together!
